Description
Black Cohosh Root powder 1oz (Cimicifuga Racemosa)This is actually an “herb” in the true sense: a perennial growing above the ground, the stem of which does not become woody. However, it is not the upper herbaceous part of the plant that is used, but rather the dried black cohosh root. Like many bulk dried herbs for sale at Star West, the most common form of this particular botanical is black cohosh root powder, and can be referred to as a dried herb for convenience.
Historically, the root of the cimicifuga racemosa plant was used by North American Indians for addressing women’s disorders such as menstrual cramps and problems associated with menopause. It is also among the natural herbs that were used to treat throat infections and rheumatism as well as improve kidney function.
Cimicifuga racemosa contains compounds known as triterpene glycosides. These substances are thought to increase blood flow to the pelvic area and promote menstrual flow. It also contains actein, a compound though to have analgesic properties.
With uses traced back to the Native American's teachings to early settlers, Black Cohosh root has been added to mojo or dream bags and other magical works.
