P48 Psilomelane Crown of Silver Merlinite Dentritic Gabbro nugget rough lot

Also known as "CROWN OF SILVER". Came from the Silver Crown mine.
Items P40-P51 are AUTHENTIC GEM GRADE Psilomelane from Sonora, Mexico. Old stock.     I am listing several lots today. These were some of the pieces I saved for retirement, high quality. Please see the other lots of this spectacular gemstone I offer.
A tumbled and lightly polished nugget. Should yield several incredible cabochons. There are 5 carats per gram. Bracelet, pendant, and matching earrings sized piece if you know what your doing. Offered at below wholesale for the quality it is. Extremely hard to photograph material.
In the late 1970's and early 1980's I kicked around the Sonora desert with a metal detector and a gold pan during the winters. To my knowledge, there is ONLY ONE TYPE of Gem Grade Psilomelane, and it is found in a Hematite mine there. The ore comes in seams, seldom more than 1 1/2-2 inches thick. Solid pieces larger than an egg are hard to find. The mine flooded one year, they pumped it dry the following season. Then it flooded 2 more times and is closed to my knowledge, I do not think there will be any more of this ore harvested. I chuckle a lot and sometimes shake my head when I read other listings about Psilomelane. If its coming from Asia or Africa, be VERY careful.
By the time I retired in 2015, I had 2 jewelry/gift stores. Psilomelane was always a "TOP 5" seller in our stores. Small average cabs sold loose for about average. Good ones . Better grade can fetch 0, and a few of my best cabs sold for 0-0. Set in Silver, it makes women hold their breath. Sparkles so brightly in direct sunlight, you need sunglasses. If women want attention, wear a piece of this when they go out in public.
Most jewelers cut this very thin, just a tad thicker than a potato chip on a trim saw. It is very solid, non brittle, shines up incredible with bands, seams, swirls and bubbles. Look at some finished jewelry in the "Fine Jewelry' section of this site. But it looks MUCH better than photos can represent. Set it in Silver then wait for the stampede to come look at it.
